Anyway, I did a sketch of a rose in a vase, and I am actually rather surprised at how well it turned out ... I guess I always did do better drawing from a source (I guess people usually do), but still ... it was neat to see that I still have the knack, so to speak. I'd really like to post it, but, alas, I do not have a scanner. Nor a camera to take a picture of it.
Oh well. I'm working on a digital concept that I sketched out a while ago on paper. I can't find the sketch since the move, though. I know it's *somewhere* just not sure exactly where. I'm trying out some digital painting, albeit with PSP, so it is a bit limited, but works. Perhaps I'll post a scrap later, but it's of an autumn goddess. Kind of interesting.
I put down brushes and acrylics on my wishlist, because I would rather like to paint again. I always enjoyed it. And seeing my sketch of the rose makes me want to be more ambitious ^_^.
Laters.

Thankyou very much for the fav on [link]
Much appreciated

The flowers... well, I think the fact that I used reference pictures helped a *lot*. I didn't copy/trace... just referenced. It worked really well for the calla lily b/c I was able to see where highlights and shadows would go. The rose was kind of an afterthought... I love drawing/sketching face-on roses, and I figured it would not be too bad to do in vector (after all, the petals are pretty much separate entities). It got a little tedious because I refrained myself from doing a simple copy/paste with the petals (which definitely helped make it look authentic). Other than that... definitely love gradients. I'm using PSP 7, so I don't have very advanced gradient tools, but a round gradient placed well seemed to work out just fine.
I might have to try my hand at some other florals.

Thanks soo much for the comment
